Every good cook probably has a chocolate chip cookie recipe in their back pocket (even if it’s the one on the back of the Tollhouse bag)! I started thinking the other day when a friend asked me for a cookie recipe, “man I need to come up with one!” Chocolate chip cookies really are to each their own – some like them chewy, some crunchy, some under cooked, and some crispy. So this recipe is MY version of the perfect cookie. Have y’all ever been to JD’s Chippery in Dallas, TX? Y’all, these cookies are divine! I went on a girls reunion a couple of months back and our first stop after exiting the airplane was JD’s for a dozen cookies and massive diet coke with the most perfect shaved ice you have ever crunched. It made us all completely nostalgic for our college days. Snap back to reality. I don’t live in Dallas anymore so I had to come up with a recipe that harkened good ‘ole JD’s. And here it is. They are thick, chewy and oh so delicious. Hope you enjoy and pass along your favorite cookie recipes too:)
Makes 18-20 cookies
2 c all purpose flour
1/2 c chocolate chips
1/2 c white chocolate chips (or more chocolate if u prefer)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 c brown sugar
1/2 tsp salt
2 eggs beaten
2 tsp vanilla
1/2 c softened butter unsalted
In separate bowl mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and chocolate chips.
Pour flour into wet ingredients and combine ( may seem like a lot of flour but keep mixing and your cookie dough with form).
Place heaping tablespoon sized scoop onto cookie sheet and bake for 8-10 minutes.
